Cheery Color

I need a bit of cheering up today, due to some sad news.  Usually flowers do the trick!  These are on my patio.  I love any combination of purple and yellow, although these pansies are sort of magenta.  Anyway, these

perky pansies are a bright 'hello' anytime I need them.  Today, they have inspired me to a new project. What do you think of the combination for some pretty fabric coasters or a patchwork throw pillow for Spring?

I am also working on an adjustment to my granddaughter's prom dress.  It's a deep shade of purple with sparkles.  They look a little yellowish in the photo, although they are clear and silverish.  Maybe she will get a corsage that has a bit of yellow in it?  Ya think?

Doesn't color and combinations of color, or just plain flowers,  make your day better?

Kicking Back

Spending a little time today just kicking back.  Working in the yard; planted some snapdragons, and weeded the bed between rain showers.  I'm catching up on blogs that I like and trying to comment.  I love to let my friends know that I was there, not just peeping in the shadows.  And I am doing a little maintenance to my online shops.  Should be reading a book, but don't have one I am interested in right now.  I let my library book expire.  Shucks!  Will make dinner for my grand boys a little later.

Love Chocolate?

How about a flower that is chocolate colored?

Alaskan native plant:  Chocolate Lily (AKA Indian Rice)

We saw these in the coastal areas of Alaska, They are a perennial herb, called Fritillaria camschatcensis that have bronze-to-brown flowers in spring. The stems reach 16 inches, commonly used as food for native peoples.  Bulbs have many small bulblets – resembling rice grains – surrounding the main bulb, thus the name Indian Rice.

Riverside Afternoon

After spending a day in the hospital this week, I was ready for some "outside time".  Hubby and walked down to the Willamette River at Elk Island park and set up our portable chairs.  We sat under a tree, some type of willow, and enjoyed the breeze and the sunshine.  The river level was as low as I have ever seen it, with Elk Island not being an island anymore! We stayed about two hours just soaking in the outdoors on a beautiful day!  Here's a photo recap:

Some flowers were still in bloom  . . . . even tho' fall was only three days away!

The water was so calming . . . what a beautiful day!

Night Photography

Back on my little patio, this time at night, taking a break enjoying the late night air. Hubby put up some string lights on the ceiling for me, took some pictures from his phone.

We were enjoying a quiet moment with some popcorn, when it occurred to me to get my camera, that more pictures of my flowers might be different when taken at night!  Obviously these were taken with a flash. The flash washed out any visible background as it was just getting to be dusk and I could see background with my naked eye.

Hubby says that the blue pansies look like old men with mustaches! I guess I could see that if the yellow were their noses!

Pink Primroses

I even tried a few shots of the moon!  Tried getting one with a nearby star, then I zoomed in for a couple more shots.
