June evening memories!

It's June already and I haven't posted and we are already on the 7th day of June!

June is one of my favorite months--the starting of Summer!  I remember my childhood when we would roll in the grass on warm summer nights.   When we were finished with rolling around, we would lie on of stomachs and look for four-leafed clovers in the lawn.  Such carefree fun!

When I was older, living in the mid-west, the fireflies would appear in the dusty evenings.  We would sit on the porch, enjoying the feel of the heavy storm-threatening air and watch out over the grass for fireflies flying slowly and erratically, looking for a mate! Sorry no pictures of fireflies!

Now, here in the PNW, the sunset is very late, it is not dark til after 9 o'clock and sometimes I am too tired to enjoy nights on my patio (the one with all the plants!)

I really should take that time to just sit and enjoy the tree tops and the sky among my plants and flowers on the deck.  Great simple, quiet times!
Not my most flattering pose!

Patio flowers at night!

What are some of your June quiet times like?

  1. Hi Abby! Visiting you back from my blog...thanks for stopping by! I like the idea of taking a sabbatical from things in life...oh, if I could I would. The one thing I love about June is the still 75 degree days and the blooming and scent of my Orange Blossom tree....heavenly!

  2. Lovely June memories! Since I grew up in S.E. Asia I remember it being very, very hot and humid. We went to the beach a lot (which I loved), then came home to potato salad my mother had fixed for dinner :) Good times!

  3. Great June memories. My grandsons (who have now moved to AZ) used to love to watch fireflies. I like quiet walks. I should use our deck more. Very busy. I tried to comment on your other blog, but had technical difficulties. So glad you were able to attend your grandson's graduation, and congrats on the new wholesale order!! Your new frilly apron design is so cute!

  4. Sounds like you love the month of June and wonderful memories. Here in the south, June can be quite hot and humid so due to my allergies and such I'm not really a fan of June. September is more my style, but I know there are a lot of Summer lovers out there my hubby being a big one. Oh well, to each his own.

  5. aaahhh....June! The beginning of magical childhood Summer!
I do like to sit on my deck in the late evening and watch the day fade away. I always love the fireflies and I've just started to see them.
